Forest Bend Escape
Faced with an awkwardly shaped backyard thanks to angled property lines and a unique home layout, these homeowners were doubtful they'd ever be able to enjoy their landscape. After our team of designers were called in, however, our clients were thrilled to learn of all the possibilities and start on the road to their dream yard!
Our client's main request was a functional space with a covered entertaining area and a hot tub. Overall, they wanted the yard to feel cohesive yet still include some secluded lounge areas. Although the shape of the yard made configuring the perfect design quite complicated, our architect and design team were able to work through the challenges. A narrowing yard, the unique ins and outs of the house shape, and several drainage issues (such as low property elevation and a nearby wetland) contributed to the individual factors resulting in the carefully calculated design.
The final design includes several "courtyard" and transitional spaces to accommodate the unique grading and provide several lounge spaces. Each of the home's many windows provides a different, picturesque view of the water feature focal point. The hot tub is purposefully close to the house for easy access, yet carefully positioned out of sight from the rest of the lounge areas so as to not draw attention away from the focal point.
Quaint seating spaces, a fire pit lounge area, and a covered dining space are accented by ornamental grasses, hydrangeas, and night lighting. Our clients are thrilled with how the final project made their oddly shaped yard now perfectly fit their landscape needs and desires!
