With friends and family of all ages visiting often, this family knew it was time to upgrade their backyard into a more usable space. With the lawn almost completely blocked off from the patio by a wall of arborvitae trees, both the lawn and patio felt smaller than they really were. Poor visibility also made entertaining and watching over playing children needlessly more difficult.
The clients wanted to merge the lawn and patio to expand the outdoor entertaining space. Their goal was to better utilize the entire backyard, keep a sizable lawn for their young children, and create a comfortable, flowing space that met the needs of their whole family. The project was completed on time and under budget in just 10 weeks. During construction, a drainage problem was discovered from an adjoining property. We remedied this by installing a drainage system that directed water to an appropriate area.
