When designing this backyard, our clients realized that you don't need ample space for a full sports resort. The clients explained to our architect that they wanted a putting green, outdoor structure, and sport court but were not sure it was possible due to their yard's size and grading issues. As for design, these die-hard Washington State University fans wanted to incorporate lots of crimson and gray while also maintaining a rustic aesthetic.
The difficult shape and grade of the backyard proved to be the most significant challenge. Alderwood designers focused on working with the grade, however, and installed a unique, angled step transition outside the backdoor. A pathway and multiple steps on the east side of the house were included to make use of other awkward grading areas.
Exceeding all of our client's expectations, the final sport-infused backyard space was a seemingly miraculous transformation! The project was completed under budget and ultimately resulted in a space the clients will entertain in for years!
