About This Project
Every Project is Unique

This outdoor resort resides in the Auburn, Washington, area. As a multi-phase, two-year project, the extensive job involved several crews and design challenges. Upon completion, our clients are thrilled to have a resort-like experience right outside their back door!

With a large empty property, our clients reached out to us to create their dream backyard space! They desired an all-inclusive resort with everything needed for their kids, family, and friends to enjoy the outdoors all year long! Though these homeowners wanted several elements, they started with an initial phase that included removing their old deck and putting in a paver patio and water feature. Thrilled with Alderwood's work, they pursued a second and a third phase!

A lot went on in this project, but a few details made the job uniquely challenging. For example, our architect needed to create a multi-phase design that worked both together and separately--in case the clients downsized their final project. Also, the clients wanted to include a pool, so our architect had to allow visibility to the pool without making it stand out.

During construction, crews had to work around underground septic systems and constraints due to the property being on a well. We also coordinated with building architects that were busy updating the client's property structurally. With additional and precise planning, our crews worked through each difficulty with excellence.

This project contains several major elements. The main visual focal points included two major water features, the gas fire pit and the wood-burning fire pit. The homeowners wanted the project to extend the length of their property without everything feeling too disconnected. Thus, our architect designed features for a courtyard feel - such as the interactive water feature by the pool with a bridge rock. By wrapping around the space, the water feature adds visual interest and helps break up the monotony of the extensive paver pool deck.

The entire project is a grand masterpiece with tons to explore!! We're grateful that this family chose us to craft their backyard paradise!
