From the get-go, we knew this landscape, whose house is listed on the Spokane Registry of Historic Houses, would be a unique project to design! The water feature focal point and several lounge areas make this a romantic outdoor retreat!
Although these clients originally came to us looking for a pool design, they realized they would rather have something they could enjoy year-round (both visually and physically). So, in the middle of the design phase, our professional team of architects and designers switched gears to a visually-stunning outdoor oasis!
Working on this project provided many challenges for our team. The homeowners wanted to preserve the original grapevine arbor, include artistic elements, and enjoy a view that redirected the eyes from nearby houses. From a design standpoint, this made proportions of and around the water features, boulders, and walkways difficult. Our crews also had to work with tough, rocky ground and maneuver equipment carefully around historic rock walls and an original cobblestone driveway.
Within the final design, this project boasts an interactive double water feature with a bridge-rock walkway, a private fire pit lounge area, and a secluded hot tub space with the best view! Since our client is a professional artist, we worked with her on a distinctive paver inlay as the final touch.
With strategic coordination and planning, Alderwood completed the project and created a result the homeowners now enjoy daily!
